It has been a good week so far. Sunday I spent removing a large quantity of rock from a neighbors yard with the much dreaded bobcat like "Cat". The cribs are mainly done and I am about to start pulling wire for the fence tomorrow.
Monday was spent at the VA hospital checking the progress of my broken leg. It looks as though it has healed remarkably well. But they keep telling me about the arthritis they see here and there. To me that means I am on the home stretch toward the Kingdom of YHVH. There is still work to do though and I am very interested in seeing how my passion for stewardship dovetails with the work of the kingdom.
Hopefully very soon I'll put an image up illustrating the treachery of using a bobcat on steep ground. It was a real adventure.
Spent the day in Coos Bay at the watershed council meeting. It was very enlightening. We had a very thorough discussion on the relationship between ocean conditions and fish populations. The Salmon Commission Executive Director put it this way. You can have excellent ocean conditions but if the smolts don't make it to the sea from the upland watersheds there are no fish to be caught at sea. The Salmon Run has disappeared this year. Very sad.
Next week I will be heading to Eugene Oregon to attend the OWEB (Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board) Biennial Conference for three days. This is the State organ that provides the vast majority of funding for stream restoration work. I will go as President Elect of the watershed council (Partnership for the Umpqua Rivers). How'd a hermit ever get in the middle of this?
