Solstice Update

As is my custom, I spent the day diverted from everything and nothing. Today is my rest day so lets see what went on.
First I spent way too much time surfing the weather sites. I've become so conscious of the weather and the stream conditions that I obsess over satellite images and NOAA climate pages.
In that vein I would like to announce that I am now the proud owner of a Davis Vantage Pro2 Wireless Weather Station. It's solar with battery backup. This model features Barometric Pressure, Inside and Outside Temperatures, Humidity, Rain, Rain Rate, Rain storm Warning, Wind Speed, Wind direction, Wind Chill, Dew Point, Heat Index, Sunrise/Sunset, Highs/Lows, On Screen Graphing and a ticker tape "local forecast. It has the capacity to attach optional sensors. UV, Solar Radiation, Evapotranspiration, Soil Moisture and Leaf Moisture and more.
I've spent days and days considering where to locate it. Just another decision mulling in the background.
So then I checked the stream gage. We're at .74 feet on the gage which is pathetically low for this time of year. The salmon run has been stalled for weeks and I am hoping the current storm will be sufficient to stimulate the salmon pods to begin the main run.
As I was heading back to the house I noticed a very large bald eagle hanging around. Hopefully it is because the salmon are starting up the main stem of the watershed and not that the little goats look especially tasty.
Spent a good two hours at the neighbors. He's welding me up some feeders for the goat herd. It has been a very long time coming to make good solid metal feeders for the angoras. We're in the design phase presently.
I've been holding onto the the GPS equipment from last summer and fall for the fish barrier survey. My plan has been to get the latitude and longitude points for the property for a long time. I finally decided to get started on that today. Blustery and rainy weather helped me keep the perspiration down and I hiked the perimeter. I'm almost finished with only three more strategic points to do.
My knees and tendons are killing me these days. Old age is definitely setting in. Todays hike up the mountain didn't help ;)
So it goes at Singing Falls.
